Man from Kirklees Charged with Terrorism Offences

A 35-year-old man from Cleckheaton has been charged with terrorism offences following an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East. 

Tygue Joseph Crowther (07/10/89) of Howard Park, in Scholes, Cleckheaton is charged with seven offences as follows:  

  • One count of Encouraging terrorism, contrary to Section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006, 
  • One count of Disseminating a terrorist publication, contrary to Section 2 of Terrorism Act 2006,  
  • Six counts of Collecting information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.  

Crowther was arrested as part of intelligence led operation by Counter Terrorism Policing North East on June 12, 2024. He has appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court this morning, Friday, October 25. 

He will next appear at the Central Criminal Court on November 22, 2024.
