This role is based in the Capabilities Team at the National CBRN Centre near Coventry which supports, strengthens and assures the multi-agency general and specialist response to CBRN Terrorism. This is a critical function and we are looking for a suitably experienced and qualified Capabilities Sergeant to supervise a small multi-agency team of subject matter experts who are responsible for managing the national strategic reserve of CBRN PPE and ancillary equipment. Open to substantive and temporary Sergeants, this role is offered as a 2year secondment opportunity.

The role

Supervising a small team, you will be required to engage with partners across blue light organisations, military, science and industry to horizon scan future PPE options as well as ensure current capability is fit for purpose against the existing and potential future threat picture.

Responsibilities 

  • Be a role model and integral part of the Capabilities team working to strengthen and develop the Emergency Service’s capability to respond to CBRN terrorism and contributing to the overall vision and mission of the NCBRNC.
  • Develop the national strategic reserve asset tracking system, managing warehousing and logistical requirements, working with external IT partners.
  • Provide supervisory support to ongoing and future multi-agency PPE and detection equipment projects.
  • Be an effective conduit for information sharing from equipment suppliers to the national CBRN SPOC network.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure replacements for expired defensive detection, identification and monitoring equipment are ordered, distributed and asset tracked without a break in operational response capability.
  • Support the regional delivery of a CBRN response by working closely with forces to assure national CBRN mobilisation and response capability through regular engagement and creating a national capability user group.
  • Develop and write policy to support national capability.
  • Develop to become an effective member of the national 24/7 on-call duty officer cadre.
