Information about the role
In joining our specialist team, you will help deliver and support complex and interlinked projects that deliver effective Counter Terrorism security policy. You will be based within a small specialist team (Hazardous Sites & Substances Unit) which is a part of NaCTSO (National Counter Terrorism Security Office) and ultimately NCTPHQ, developing protective security product and policy.
The role includes liaison with government departments and agencies, emergency services, senior police managers across the regional CT network and industry associates across the UK.
There is responsibility for supporting training, performance management and quality assurance across the Protect and Prepare Network including that of Counter Terrorism Security Advisors (CTSA), their regional supervisors, and CT Awareness Advisors (CTAA).
The role could also require you to hold work streams under programs of work across the Policy & Guidance Department and wider NaCTSO.
To carry out this important role, you will use your excellent communication skills to deliver updates, provide support to the work streams the unit holds (through presentations and written reports), whilst promoting, supporting and developing initiatives through innovation and collaboration.
The challenges of this role will require you to be self-motivated and work with the minimum of supervision, prioritising and managing a high workload while delivering key updates and projects on time. You will inform this work with your understanding of the current terrorist threat to the UK and an unwavering commitment to keeping the UK safe.
The successful candidate will be required to achieve and maintain DV vetting; therefore, any offer of employment is contingent on the successful applicant passing the clearance process, which currently takes approximately 6-12 months.
The post and NaCTSO, also support the functions of the National Coordinator Protect and Prepare (NCPP) as required, which is part of the CT Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ).
Responsibilities
The post holder will be required to do the following:
- Day to day support of the team to ensure that they have everything they need to complete their projects efficiently
- To co-ordinate administration functions to support the delivery of protective security for core work streams
- Manage unit mailbox, log and track enquiries, assign enquires within the unit or signpost elsewhere where relevant
- Assist immediate team members with the projects they are leading on and other teams where required
- Maintain a good working knowledge of role specific legislative procedures, national policy and tactical options to advise internal and external stakeholders
- Represent NaCTSO on various relevant Police, Government and Industry working groups/committees
- Collate feedback and national performance measurement returns for feedback to the team
- Produce high quality reports, deliver effective and engaging briefings on behalf of the team or NaCTSO
- To assist in training plans, national training delivery and coordinate training requirements for the regionally based network, by organising seminars and courses to deliver cost effective training.
- Undertake other tasks as directed by the line manager
- Support the team through contracting suppliers and tracking progress
