The Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) network stretches across the UK. We work alongside our partners to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity.
You’ll support the delivery of the Regional Protect and Prepare strategy and delivery plan, being instrumental in developing maintaining and reviewing the CTPWM regional plans.
By supporting CT capabilities and wider partners in exercising CTPWM plans, you’ll be supporting forces in order to respond and recover effectively from a terrorist incident within the UK or abroad.
You’ll have the highest standards of integrity, discretion and sensitivity when handling information on community security, issues and intelligence, with a flexible attitude, being enthusiastic and the ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision in a high-pressure environment.
Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining specific CT Prepare Plans and processes as well as coordinating these plans with key stakeholders within the wider regional resilience community.
- Delivering and supporting national and regional training, CPD and awareness internally and across the regional forces to embed CT Contingency Plans.
- Act on recommendations and learning from utilising the Organisation Learning System (OLS) in order to review and update CT Plans and National Guidance & Arrangements, ensuring that Plans and Guidance Documents are up to date and fit for purpose. This process requires the Prepare Officer to brief Managers and Department Heads, to ensure they are sighted on updates to Plans and that their role, where relevant, is accurately reflected within the Plan structure.
- Design, deliver and support testing and exercising programme against current and emerging threats. This requires engagement with the regional forces as well as other external partners to ensure the successful delivery of exercise programmes.
- Being a conduit for the receipt and regional assessment of tasking from National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) and coordinating the regional response to these taskings.
- Supporting, where necessary, CTPWM at a local, regional and national level including Protect & Prepare Boards and Working Groups.
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships with contacts in all regional forces including JESIP partners, Military and Local Resilience Forums.
- Planning and prioritising your own work activities, responding to managers / departmental and organisational requirements.
- To perform the role of Protect & Prepare Liaison Officer (PaPLO) to support investigative and intelligence decision making in response mode. The PaPLO role provides appropriate advice to Duty Supt’s, CTSIOs and Intelligence Managers regarding aspects of CT Plans and protective security during the Pursue response.
- Conduct debriefing activity following testing and exercising and live incidents.
- To complete the Prepare Officer Pathway, delivered by NaCTSO, and perform the role in accordance with the Pathway standards.
