⇄ Secondment opportunity
The NCBRNC brings together the emergency services to protect & prepare the UK against the chemical, biological, radiological & nuclear (CBRN) threat. The Command is a Counter Terrorism Police national capability, hosted by West Midlands Police (akin to CTPHQ being hosted by the MPS).
A two-year secondment opportunity is now available for placement with our SW Team, helping to support the Home Office’s Homeland Security Group & working within several Radiological & Nuclear Change Programme’s.
The location will be based at Bridgend, Wales.
The role
Working as part of a dedicated RN team, you’ll support the planning & integration of radiation & nuclear detection equipment into the protective security layer of policing for major public events. Additionally, you will support the response to any radioactive or nuclear source that is out of regulatory control, either through loss or criminal intent, further supporting the Protect, Prepare & Pursue elements of the National Contest Strategy.
You’ll have the ability to enhance your profile through ongoing learning & technological advances, working closely with key partners across the CBRN landscape.
Successful applicants will be expected to travel to other locations within the UK in line with the capability requirements. An allowance is provided for all business travel, sustenance expense & overnight accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Operationally deploy with radiological & nuclear detection equipment within the Protect & Pursue elements of the National Contest Strategy across the UK.
- Working with host Forces to deploy radiological & nuclear detection architecture into major public events.
- Support the development of bespoke deployment plans for operational activity.
- Volunteer for the NCBRNC Duty Officer On-Call cadre. This weekly 24/7 on-call role is rotated between Constable’s and Sergeants, to support Duty Managers (Inspectors) and the SLT.
