Information about the Role

To operate MPS vehicles, in accordance with MPS regulations ensuring the safe transportation of NPCC Officers and sensitive documents to and from various destinations, including home to office. As a deployable resource from within the driver pool some on-call working will be required as part of a shift pattern.

Job requests may vary from day to day and may also include driving outside the MPS District (OMPD) and involve overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Drive assigned routes to transport individuals to and from various destinations
  • Adhere to Road Safety Regulations at all times, ensuring passenger safety
  • Maintain a variety of records including mileage and vehicle maintenance
  • Ensure vehicle is in excellent working and presentable condition
  • Plan appropriate time required to reach destinations
  • Assist passengers to enter and exit the vehicle, offering help with items to be placed safely in the boot of the vehicle
  • Perform other related duties as required commensurate with the Grade

Additional Information

  • This position offers a 10% flexibility allowance with the requirement to take on-call work.
  • All drivers are required to hold National Security Vetting to SC level and be qualified to Response driving level Blue light progression as minimum before taking up this post

This post is conditional on post-holders attaining and maintaining the following:

  • National Security Vetting to SC level
  • Successful completion of the Police Response driving course  (Blue light progression) prior to taking up the post (internal candidates only) or completing it as part of their probationary period (external candidates only).
  • Successful completion of the Police Advanced driving course within 24 months of taking up this post.
